Laura Murray is the Founder and Principal of Laura Murray Public Relations. A proven and passionate leader, highly respected in the Vancouver market for providing strategic counsel and delivering client success, Laura founded the company to be a bastion for ingenuity and to support Vancouver’s cultural and creative industries.

She is renowned for her innovative marketing communications work within the arts and culture industry, an area with which she has had a multi-faceted and life-long involvement. Having trained as a classical ballet dancer for 18+ years, she then turned her aesthetic insights to journalism, providing arts commentary and reviews for the Vancouver Sun, Georgia Straight, and Dance International Magazine.

Serving as Ballet British Columbia’s Publicist, Laura managed the public profile and visibility of the company from 2005 to 2006, working closely with then-Artistic Director John Alleyne. And later from 2008 to 2009 when she led the successful marketing campaign to save Ballet BC from impending insolvency, securing record amounts of media coverage and raising much needed public awareness.

Laura’s strong management style is distinguished by her open-minded creative approach, her flawless attention to detail, and her personal investment in every client’s success. As Vice President of Client Services at Curve Communications, she created and managed a division of the company devoted to arts and culture. Laura has worked with such prestigious organizations as The National Arts Centre, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, Harper Collins Publishers, Alberta Ballet, Bootlegger, The City of Vancouver, Right to Play, The University of British Columbia, Blackbird Theatre, among others.

Laura was named the Globe and Mail’s November 2010 ‘Employee of the Month.’ She currently serves on the Board of Directors at the Alliance for Arts and Culture and on the Marketing Advisory Committee for the Vancouver East Cultural Centre (the Cultch).
